Community Partners' mission is to accelerate ideas into action for the public good. Since 1992, Community Partners has provided services to more than 550 projects and civic leaders through Southern California. Today, Community Partners offers a wide range of individualized consulting, leadership development, administrative assistance, training workshops and network building that help organizations address the needs of their community in ways that are more strategic, more effective, and which have the greatest impact possible.
Community Partners approaches its work with its partnership projects with the belief that individual skill development is essential to building solid organizations and healthy communities. They understand that an effective technical assistance (TA) model should be based on strong, meaningful and long-term relationships with the individuals, organizations and communities with whom we work. Establishing these relationships is where Community Partners begins their partnership with project and organizational leaders.
As of June 2009, Community Partners has 127 active projects and is involved with another 8 special projects. Community Partner's core operating budget is $1.7 million, while the overall organizational budget is $13.9 million.
Community Partners' Incubator Services provides fiscal sponsorship, guidance and counsel to social entrepreneurs allowing their leadership to work on their idea immediately, without the red tape and hassles of starting a nonprofit. In this arena Community Partners also provides the latest capacity-building information, techniques and training for nonprofit management.
Through their Strategic Initiatives Community Partners works with organizations, networks, funders and government agencies to address key issues throughout the state and link community needs with resources.
Community Partners serves an important convening and connecting role for civic and social entrepreneurs. It happens formally, through peer learning groups, networks and workshops. It also happens informally, as staff, Board of Directors and Project Leaders provide access to important resources and key decision-makers in government, philanthropy, business and other nonprofit organizations.
