In March, the White House released its initial budget outline, which included steep cuts to food programs, including a 21% decrease in USDA funding. The administration’s full budget is expected to be released the week of May 22nd, and funders and advocates are preparing for the impacts it will have on programs that support a healthy, nutritious, sustainable, equitable, and accessible food system.
The Farm to Fork Initiative, Environmental Grantmakers Association, and Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems Funders are co-hosting this teleconference on Wednesday, May 31st at 4:00 p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. PT to brief funders and advocates on the Trump administration’s first full budget proposal. We have assembled a team of federal policy and budget experts to provide their independent analysis. We will also share what advocacy activities around the budget are expected and how we might collaborate to strengthen our voice. The call will conclude with advocacy messaging guidance from communications experts at Spitfire Strategies.
