Factory Farms have significant impacts on our waters, air quality and public health. These facilities also have devastating impacts on the local economies, the workforce and unconscionable treatment of the animals they confine. But all over the country, groups are battling factory farms at the state level with legislation, policy initiatives, and calls for stepped up enforcement. The attention to water quality impacts, antibiotic use and local control over regulations and health ordinances all have wide-ranging ramifications and impacts deserving of more attention.
This webinar, the first of a two-part series, will give an overview of the problems, and engage experts working towards solutions and alternative systems for sustainable animal agriculture. There will also be time for funder discussion, including an exploration of the role of philanthropy.
Moderator: Scott Cullen, Executive Director, GRACE Communications Foundation
